The London meeting was organised by Thomas Wingate who worked at Alsop Architects at the time and Paul Cowell from Simply Rhino. Over the course of one day several people from all over Europe discussed how they used the CAD platform Rhinoceros3D in the realisation of several projects.
Speakers were:
·Thomas Wingate who discussed the process of triangulating the facade of the Fourth Grace building in Liverpool by Alsop Architects.
·Sigrid Brell-Cokcan from the Universität der Angewandte Kunst in Vienna who explained how Rhino was used to create facade elements for the KunstHaus museum in Graz.
·Tim Lucas from Price & Myers who discussed the design and fabrication process for Angelwing outdoor art sculpture in Islington.
·Yanni Loukissas from MIT and Foster&Partners who talked about Adaptive Algorithms and their usage in creating daylight optimized architecture.
·Yours truly. I gave a short lecture on how to create curve bundles to represent flow-motion using RhinoScript. I've included the presentation files in the next section.
·Olivier from Unto this last furniture design and development (who also hosted the event). About how to link Freeform CAD with parametric history models in order to create custom made furniture. This interesting cross-over between custom build and catalog production would not have been possible without a parametric design.
